Medical Laser Safety Officers and Technicians
Our Medical Laser Safety Officers and technicians don’t just run the equipment; they also act as a valuable clinical resource for your surgeons and OR staff. Our technicians average 10 years in the medical field and are involved in over 50,000 cases a year. They complete extensive training twice a year, meet mandatory certifications and undergo continuous evaluation.
UHS Surgical Services provides the following:
- An extensively trained laser technician assists OR staff and helps ensure safe utilization of the laser system on the patient
- All necessary fibers and accessories for each laser case
- Full responsibility for maintaining adequate supplies necessary for laser system utilization
- A Clinical Educator to conduct laser physics and safety in-services for the OR staff
- All Laser Safety documentation supplied, completed and maintained by UHS Surgical Services laser technicians
- Laser Safety Policy and Procedures written and maintained in accordance with The Joint Commission, ANSI and by manufacturer recommendations
